Matthew 1:5 – 6, Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David the king…

Ruth the Moabite is another character to be considered under this study of what can people with bad beginning do to align themselves with God and God’s plan so, they become useful and become people of God. May be we should be reminded of/about the Moabites.

Genesis 19:36 – 37; The Moabites were born and descendants of incest, what is considered an abomination. The Moabites became a thorn in the side of Israel, though not quite to the same degree of some of their neighbours.  In Judges 3:12 – 14 we see that the Moabites gathered with the Ammonites and fought against Israel and defeated them, and Israel served the king of Moab 18 years.  However, Israel later defeated the Moabites.

In Ezra 9:1 – 2, …The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, with respect to the abominations of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. For they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, so that the holy seed is mixed with the peoples of those lands…, we see that the Moabites intermarry with the Israelites, of which God did not approve.

The Moabites had a history that was not pleasant to God or/and His people, yet this Moabite woman, Ruth stood out and was accepted of God, she ended up being one of the ancestral mothers of the Lord Jesus Christ (see the genealogy of Jesus Christ in Matthew 1).

Prayer: My Father! Teach me to be aligned to You, in Jesus’ name.
