Discipleship Series; 10 April, 2018 

John 10:10, The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

We have seen the three (3) causes of sicknesses and illnesses in and among humans, which are these;

1. God: As a result of man’s disobedience and flouting of the laws of God and laws of the universe. It was also pointed out that it is not that God created or made evil, but His withdrawal from man as a result of sin and disobedience paves way for all and any calamity and tragedy to happen to man. Though, it should not be conceived and believed that all sicknesses and illnesses are results of sin and disobedience to God; Ezekiel 18:30, “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord GOD. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin.”
2. Human: Man, through what was termed foolishness, stupidity and ignorance can cause and bring illnesses and sicknesses to man. For example, living in filthy and dirty environment will without doubt lead to outbreak of diseases at some points. Or when man fails to observe and have enough rest, which is necessary and commanded by and in Scriptures, which will eventually also lead to the physical breakdown of the human body.
3. Satan: As an arch enemy of man, whose goal is to work against God and all of God’s creation, will and purpose will use anything, including sicknesses and illnesses to achieve his goals and objectives; 1 Peter 5:8, Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

It is imperative for us to identify the source of whatever sickness and illness we may be battling in other to be able to tackle it appropriately and not focussing our energies in the wrong direction.

PRAYER: Jehovah! Show Yourself strong and mighty in my life and on my behalf, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
