Discipleship Series; 28 April, 2022

Psalm 46:1, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Very much like in the first error we identified, examined and discussed in earlier editions that Moses made, how on earth or even anywhere did Moses think he could ‘carry,’ which means to guide, lead and protect the Israelites as they journey on their way and into the Promised Land – a land that even he (Moses) did not know, which he confessed to in his complaints saying; “…to the land which You swore to their fathers…”?

The man Moses was displaying arrogance and ignorance at the same time! Because he needed to have asked himself, if he (Moses) were there when God made the promise to Abraham (Genesis 12:1), and which land it was and where the land was.

If Moses had known the land, God would not have needed to go with them to lead and guide them; showing them the way to take and where to turn – God, simply would have asked them to “Go!” But they moved and stopped at God’s instances and instructions, as God directed with the movement of the cloud; Numbers 9:18 – 23.

As said (written) when we began examining the contents of the words (lamentation, remonstration and complaints) of Moses with particular reference at this point in time to the verse below, Moses allowed himself pressured unnecessarily and wounded up for assuming an assignment, role and responsibility God had not placed upon him, which will happen to us all, if we fall for the same mistakes and errors of Moses;

Numbers 11:12, “Did I conceive all these people? Did I beget them, that You should say to me, ‘Carry them in your bosom, as a guardian carries a nursing child,’ to the land which You swore to their fathers?”

PRAYER: Oh God! Teach me Your ways and help me walk in them only, in the name of Jesus Christ.

DECLARATION: I walk in God’s ways and tread His path for me only, in Jesus’ name.
