Discipleship Series; 19, January 2023

DECLARATION: I am led by the Holy Ghost into the works to do, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Matthew 17:27; Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.

In support of the fact that in other for us to get, gain, retain and maintain God’s blessings and benefits, we have roles to play, as well as duties and responsibilities to discharge and perform, even to bring to pass and to fruition God’s promises and prophecies – we may have (in many cases) things to do, which is usually based on the leading and directives of the Holy Spirit. We saw in our main Bible text above, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God instructed Peter to work; “go fishing” to get money to pay for their tax dues in the verse above.

This shows that even when we have faith and have received the word of God, we usually have work to do, roles to play and duties to discharge – no matter how simple the task/work is or may be, like Peter, we may still have something to do to bring to fruition our faith – we should not be idling around for the manifestation of a miracle.

We share the Bible verses below with a promise to give explanation(s) in today’s edition;

Luke 24:48 – 49; And you are witnesses of these things. Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.

Acts 1:4; And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me.

The verses above show us God’s promises to the first disciples, with these promises, they were not idling around, but were acting upon the direct instructions of the Lord Jesus Christ and the prophets for the Promise of the Father – the gift of the Holy Ghost.

PRAYER: Oh God! Show me the works You require me to do and help me do them, in Jesus’s name.
