Discipleship Series; 21, January 2023

DECLARATION: I receive the fulfilment of God’s promises, because I wait upon Him, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Acts 1:12 – 14; Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey. And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

After receiving the instruction of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, all the disciples went to where they were directed and “continued in prayer and supplication.” But they were not waiting like many would, just idling around and waiting for someone or God to move things on their behalf without them playing their roles and performing their duties, responsibilities and obligations.

Aside “continuing in prayer and supplication, they went ahead to fulfilling the Scriptures and prophecies and chose a replacement for Judas Iscariot as part of the directives that had been foretold long before by prophets as recorded in Scriptures; Acts 1:15 – 26.

As they waited on/upon God, they were doing and did all these (mentioned above), it was only then that the promise of the Holy Ghost was fulfilled;

Acts 2:1 – 4; When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

PRAYER: Oh God! As I wait upon you, and doing Your bidding, let there be a fulfilment of Your promises to me, in the name of Jesus Christ.
