Discipleship Series; 19 January 2024

DECLARATION: I always obey God and do His will, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Hebrews 12:1; Therefore, we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

Returning to our regular and ongoing series in this daily devotional where and when we were talking about us doing or/and not doing the will of God, and the consequences, as well as the impacts on us, and what our not doing the will of God is and means to God; His will way and purpose for us.

Although this stems from the fact that those God had put in places of authority, starting from our homes who are refusing to take a stand for God irrespective of the consequences (for whatever reason), and when such leaders take their stand, they are met with and by opposition from those who they are leading, who unfortunately are supported by the society and the various constitutions of the nations, these constitutions, we said had been tactically ingrained by Satan to work and war against God, His word, will and way – which is invariably transferring authority and power to Satan, the arch-enemy of God and ours, too.

Romans 13:1 – 3; Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore, whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.

This happens despite the fact that God, in and by those words gave express instructions about obeying those in authority over us and our lives, and there are severe and dire consequences for disregarding and disobeying God, His words and commandments, consequences with far more reaching implications for us, our homes, societies and humanity as a whole, as we can see with and in the case of Adam and Eve; Romans 5:12 – 14.

PRAYER: Oh God! Help me always obey You and do Your will, in the name of Jesus Christ.
