Discipleship Series; 17 June 2024

DECLARATION: Beginning with me, we all do God’s will, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

1 Corinthians 11:2; Now I praise you, brethren, that you remember me in all things and keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you.

We have seen that even the Bible teaches and admonishes that we keep our traditions and cultural practices but not anything that portends and leads to idolatry – or anything that is outright against and at variance with the word of God or God Himself.

Romans 1:18 – 19, For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.

But because of globalization, modernization, civilization, and westernization, coupled with the support of the laws and constitutions of many nations, we have (in almost every society, culture, and nation) jettisoned our original cultures and adopted the practices of other cultures that seems good and pleasant, simply because (and I am very particular about men) those practices are being embraced as they portray someone who is in touch with their emotions and feelings, and at the same time guided by them (feelings and emotions).

What people condemned as practices against societal norms, cultures, and traditions a few years back have become and are now becoming normal these days, which is why in the example I pointed out in the last two (2) editions, someone like Bishop who spoke out about a particular abnormality would dare not do so in today’s societies.

And not just Bishop Jakes, but practically all the ministers of the gospel – they have mellowed down on some teachings, refused to outrightly mention, and point out some abnormalities, anomalies, and sins, glossing over them without pinpointing, as they may be afraid of mentioning them for the fear of being seen as politically incorrect, and lose members!

PRAYER: Oh God! Empower our men to do the right in all situations, in the name of Jesus Christ.
